Emergencies like electrical fires are not something we want to think about, but accidents do happen. Follow these steps if there is ever an electrical fire in your home.
As cliched as it sounds, a calm head can help in a dangerous situation.
If the fire is very small, you can smother it with a heavy blanket.
Don’t use water
Water conducts electricity and pouring water on the fire could result in electrocution.
Check your fire extinguisher
This should be done even before there’s an actual emergency. Electrical fires are a Class C fire and they require a fire extinguisher labelled ABC.
If the situation is too dangerous for you to follow these steps, call emergency services on 10177 and leave immediately.
