Megatron Obtained the rights from Hawker Siddeley on 1 June 2006 to manufacture the Hawker Siddeley VSI single-busbar and VTD double-busbar switchgear ranges (now known as the MVSI and MVTD ranges respectively) in South Africa. The MVSI and MVTD ranges are available in currewnt ratings of 630A, 800A, 1250A, 2000A and 2500A. The MVSI range incorporates integral earthing as standard and the MVTD range requires a seperate earthing truck. For customers requiring additions or modifications to existing Hawker Siddeley switchgear, as well as those looking for new installations, Megatron Federal is able to provide the optimal solution. In addition, Megatron Federal is experienced in curcuit breaker retrofit projects, where obsolete and potentially dangerous oil circuit breakers are replaced with vacuum equipment. |

The benefits of retrofitting as apposed to maintenance of existing plant or full replacement are as follows:
In addition to the above, it should be borne in mind that many manufacturers no longer support their older product ranges (refereing to them as "legacy" products). |

Megatron Federal offers several ranges of primary and secondary switchgear including ring main units manufactured by Ormazabal. This primary and secondary distribution switchgear has the benefit of enhanced safety and lower maintenance requirements than traditional switchgear. Each unit is imported directly from the manufacturers in Europe, and has the benefit on a complete SF6 recycle program. Megatron Federal installation technicians have been trained on both the primary and secondary switchgear ranges offered by Ormazabal and offer a complete installation service, with additional support from Ormazabal's technicians. The greatest advantage this switchgear offers is that the units can be fitted together (modular design) on site without intervention within the SF6 encapsulation, which greatly simplifies installation and assembly. |
